As the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Nurse, and reporting to the
Medical Health Officer, your main duties will be centered on population and
public health nursing services as they relate to the prevention, control and
follow up of communicable diseases.

NITHA is on the lookout for a skilled nursing professional, knowledgeable in
communicable disease control services and programs, who is eager to take on
the following responsibilities:

* Coordinate and insure the investigation and timely report of
communicable diseases by exercising a knowledge of CDC;
* Receive notification of cases and lists of contacts of communicable
diseases from a variety of health care professionals such as community
nurses, Environmental Health Officers and Communicable Disease Nurses of
Regional Health Authorities; and
* Oversee that effective communication on CDC targets the correct groups
by initiating public education activities and rolling out initiates to
control the spread of infectious diseases and the management of outbreaks.

Successful applicants will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing,
with a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience in Public
Health/Infectious disease, community or population health experience with a
focus on communicable disease. You have experience working with computer
applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and other database systems, and it
will be considered a definite asset if you've previously used iPHIS.

You are a seasoned professional when it comes to communicating with others
as you have excellent written and verbal skills. You use these skills to

to NICU and the Chief of Nursing, you will be a leader, innovator, knowledge 
translater, and change agent who is accountable for promoting excellence in 
nursing practice and quality of patient care. The scope of practice of the 
Senior Practice Leader (SPL) is both broad and complex, encompassing complex 
patient care planning, consultation, education, dissemination of research 
and administration across programs and systems. The incumbent possesses 
expertise in advanced communication, leadership and expert problem solving 
skills. The SPL advances knowledge creation and uptake by engaging in or 
supporting the use of current research, evidence/best practice standards in 
order to address professional, program and patient problems and concerns. 
The SPL supports professional, practice, program and organizational goals in

and others. The Senior Practice Leader provides a leadership role in liaison with

across and beyond the boundaries of the organization about issues related to
neonatal/perinatal women's health care to promote optimum and effective
resource allocation. Participates in the development, implementation and
evaluation of local, provincial, and national patient care standards and
professional practice standards through mentoring, committee membership and
organizational and cross organizational task forces and committees.
. Promotes evidenced-based practice and shares knowledge about current
research and literature including innovation in practice, complications of
pregnancy and management of complex situations. Establishes opportunities
to support staff in implementing evidence based practice and in clinical
research endeavors and promotes and advances best practice through
publications, presentations, and conferences.
. Plans, implements and evaluates appropriate educational programs
based on ongoing needs assessment, in collaboration with educators and other
professional staff.
. Pursues formal relationships (including through joint appointments)
with academic programs in university settings (BCIT, University of BC,
University of Victoria), with professional associations and with other
organizations involved in perinatal (including neonatal) and women's health
care service delivery. Precepts and mentors students at a graduate level
and from different disciplines.
. Initiates and participates in community development initiatives and
provides support for the development of outreach initiatives in line with
organizational and program priorities. Teaches within educational outreach
programs and coordinates with other medical/nursing experts to present
workshops. Represents the hospital on external committees and with external

. Scans the environment and the literature to identify emerging

To be successful in this role you will need a level of education, training,
and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree in Nursing, or related field
and five (5) years recent related experience in progressively senior
leadership positions or advanced practice roles. Eligible for registration
with the College of Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC) and hold current
certification in CPR is necessary. Ideally the incumbent will demonstrate
professional leadership by holding a certification relevant to the program
area such as Neonatal Specialty Nursing Certificate or a CNA Certification
in Perinatal Nursing.

The incumbent for this role will also have demonstrated knowledge and
clinical experience in neonatal/perinatal nursing, and/or women's health and
will have experience in teaching and program development. This position
thus requires strong facilitation skills, and an ability to communicate
effectively both orally and in writing. The SPL participates as an

This is a senior level position for the Home and Community Care Program in the Kivalliq Region. Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent will provide program expertise and will coordinate the support to planning, program development, service delivery and evaluation for home and community care programs in the Kivalliq communities.  This will involve coordination of expertise across the department, in partner departments and agencies, and will emphasize community development and deepening of community capacity.

The program budget will fluctuate from year to year, but will be at least $2M and will significantly influence other program budgets and effectiveness (e.g. community health services, medical travel, out of territory placements for children and adults in care, school services, and Nunavut Care and corrections systems).  The incumbent will require sound professional and practical judgment in the development and implementation of a safe, effective and efficient Home and Community Care program. The incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision in carrying out day-to-day activities.

Key Responsibilities include; manage the H&CC program and administrative operation in the eight communities. Provide professional and clinical supervision, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of Home and Community services. Coordinate and facilitate the engagement of external parties, with program expertise, to support community service design and delivery. Ensure appropriate training is accessed by program staff. Facilitate program design to maximize community benefit. Ensure effective public accountability mechanisms are in place.

In order to be considered for this position the incumbent must have: A degree or diploma in Nursing, Social Work or allied health services (e.g. OT), minimum of four years experience in related field. Registration with the RNA NT/NU to fulfill legal requirement of the Nursing Professional Act is a requirement. You'll have sound clinical, professional and managerial skills and proven skills in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating programs. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
